Screws placement

Screws placement

Postby Guizmo » Sun Jan 26, 2014 8:53 pm

Hello Guys-Gals

I have assembled most of the mechanics, but there are some screw sizes that seem to fit for the same pourpose and now I have some 'extra' screws :oops:

Is there a list of which screws to use for the different places?

For the M8's there is no problem, but there are several sizes of M3 and I'm afraid I used some where they do not belong.

I appreciate any help.

I gave you extras. As a general rule, use the shortest one that will work. No list except for seeing what inventor uses. For those that don't have inventor, there is inventor viewer.

:mrgreen: Of course yes!

Everything that helps a "common person" to build a Simpson is good for everybody. Documentation is always good. Great job!

I'm just shopping vitamins so this is very helpful. Two quick questions (I can't easily run Inventor Viewer):
  • where do the M2 bolts go? I assume the hub.
  • how is the pulley secured? with two M3X8s I assume, but the BOM only lists 2 M3 nuts?

The M2's hold on the limit switch and hold down the tuner.

I need to list some more nuts for the pulley. The first design just threaded into the plastic but nuts are cheap.

@Imrahil

There is a small mistake. The screw holding the eccentric stop should be an M2. Besides that, I don't see the limit switch and screws. :o
