Starting point?

Starting point?

Postby jcrowson12 » Mon Feb 10, 2014 11:01 pm

I have been following the wally for a couple of months now, and I am almost in a spot where I can work on making my own. I know there is the bounty for the assembly instructions. I would prefer to see the instructions and then make a donation if I think that they are worth it. In the mean time, where do you guys think is the best place to start? Any advice will also be greatly appreciated.

I have access to wally's Github.

Thanks for any and all input.

The best stand in for instructions would be to download Inventor View. You can use this to view parts and assemblies so you can see exactly how everything goes together. I believe you can also take measurement.

A few words of warning. Wally is experimental. I have gotten him to make some beautiful prints but I am currently alone. In addition to that, I still haven't gotten him calibrated to the point I would trust him to reproduce.

As Nick said Wally is way experimental.
But If you need a bunch of frustration.
There is suppose to be 20 "beta" units out there
Nick's Wally, Battleship Wally, and Wally Chrome only builds I know of

Read all "Cozmicray" posts
Start printing out parts from "stl" files on github
or
get someone to print them
get some birch ply lay out the measurement 3 times cut / drill once for back and sides
order up 30 608 bearings
order up 4 nema 17 motors
a Azteeg X3 or Mega 2560 and RAMPS
order up bowden extruder and Ubis hotend
$40 of fasteners
some spectra fishing line

about 60 hours of build
about 120 hours of swearing/tinkering/do-overs

Ta Da You got Wally Jcrowson!
