Home is off the bed

~131mm down from hotend

If you put Wally in far corner ~0.1mm from hotend
you will break all the stings on Wally, or stall the motors.

Z home is all the way down. So, move Z to bottom home (touching), before removing power. That way it will not crash down, and the string tension will be removed between printing. This is ideal for Z.

For X/Y, power off the motors wherever you want and manually push them where you want them for storage between prints. It would be best to reduce the string tension when not printing.

Manually put X/Y to the home position and power up the motors when ready to print.

Yes, this location will not work for Wally. I simply mentioned it for illustration. Sorry for the confusion.

How do you home in 2 seconds?
Pull the arms out and put a bit of tension on the bed string by turning the z pulley and doing a controlled release. Done!

I don't think the bed dropping (whack or Twang) is very good?
There is no reason this should ever happen unless you have a malfunction. In the post code in slic3r enter a "G1 X0 Y0 Z0" and you will gracefully return to home and you are ready for another print. You could also redesign the z motion to have some kind of spring assist for the z movement. For me the whack doesn't happen anymore and when it happens from a malfunction it isn't destructive.

How is the Z axis suppose to be strung?
From the z pulley to the idler and back up to the hole at the top of the slot without having any strings cross.

Is the bed hanging on the string all the time?

table that free falls all the time

I am not lifting a big rock either (Basalt bed)

Are you using stepper motors with brakes?
Does Azteeg have motor hold?
Is your bed counter balanced?

Well, it takes awhile to get everything set right so don't feel bad when you have a lot of crashes. I don't know how many hot end crashes and such that I have had when I am trying to figure out the kinematics.

I am not doing anything extra for my bed. If I turn off my motors then my bed will zoom to the bottom. It will make a pretty good sound but nothing that is destructive. I wouldn't want to do it on purpose but nothing to write home about if you accidentally do it.

So here are the reasons that you might have the bed drop and some suggested solutions...
1) [end of print] Insert a G1 X0 Y0 Z0 code into the end g-code of slic3r.
2) [kill print] In repetier-host set the park position at 0,0,0 and check the box that will send the printer to the park position after job/kill.
3) [power/disconnect] Not a lot you can do other than getting a UPS and making sure you have quality data cords so you don't get any cross talk.

If there is a failure mode I missed let me know.

Side note: When I home/g28 nothing happens and nothing is zeroed. I have to send a G92 X0 Y0 Z0 E0 to zero.

You need the biggest machine coordinate in the table above to be comfortably above the biggest machine coordinate you would need in a print. Since one of your touch points is at (1300,1300,127.5) you need a entry bigger than 127.5 in the table so we can interpolate correctly. I accomplish this by have the arms fully extended when calibrating the bed so it can be raised above the normal print height. (If I have more time, I could have it extrapolate a reasonable position.)

my caliper jams at max at 127mm
with my setup --- need longer caliper or different set up.

Geez I have measured this beast a dozen times (with NO consistancy)

So I have to have a Z and real Z entry in the table above extruder contact
at 126.2mm

Add a fake measurement by manually extrapolating.
