Hilo build aka Gus 1.5ish

Marlin is working without segmenting but adding the segmenter breaks the code somehow, I'm not sure how since I followed the pattern of the delta bot segmenter and fixed the kinematics. It is a rather old version of marlin though so I think I will be moving to the newer version which has had lots of improvements to the code style that should make it easier to work with.
The real problem I am having is calibration and mechanical slop between the shoulder bearings and the bolts.

I've run into a bit of bad luck. Once I about had my firmware working and almost had things calibrated my hub bolt broke. I guess it is time to cad up a bolt with room for a piece of lamp bolt through the center.(it threads nicely into the hotend)
While I'm at it I think I will reprint the wrist pieces as yolks instead of cantilevered pieces.
Due to the spamming of this forum I will probably be starting a thread over at the reprap forums when I make my next milestone. You can also check out my blog for any updates. RustyNoob dot com.

We can start a google group. I am building a gus with semi upgraded arms right now. For the hub i am using a tube which is meant for injection moulding. It is 8 mm outer dia . 6 mm inner. M8 threads on one end and 9.5mm threaded socket on one end . Length 120mm

any chance of sharing your version of marlin? i am kind of stuck trying another version of marlin which seems have some error in it.

my other option is to use segmentize which i will if nothing works out.

That sounds perfect for the hub center.
I will try to get some time today and post my firmware. it is an older version of marlin so it needs to be ported to the updated version but if you can find it you should be able to see how the kinematics work. I had a bug that was crashing out the printer whenever I did segmenting so the segment part of the code is commented out right now.

something went wrong when I pushed my update and it made a new repo instead of adding my files. You can find it here.

edit: after a bit of testing I discovered this is in much worse shape than I thought. I am in the process of adding it to the latest Marlin release candidate.

here is the repo for my current version

I finally got my new hub design into cad and printed. With some slight modifications I will be able to use the hot end as a bed probe.
